On Air Staff
Mike McCoy

Mike fell in love with broadcasting when he built his first crystal radio at age 8, and began listening to such stations as WCFL, WJJD, and WLS in Chicago in the late 50’s and early 60’s. He began his radio career in 1965, working in Chicago while attending the Career Academy of Broadcasting.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1974 he found himself in radio again at an ‘all news’ station along with a job moonlighting as a disco DJ at Billy Jack’s in Van Nuys. Soon he convinced the disco owner to allow him to broadcast live from the disco and as luck would have it, he was the first DJ on earth to play on the air, “Love Will Keep Us Together”, by The Captain and Tennille! These two artists even came into the disco that night just to hear their hit tune hit the airwaves for the first time. What a thrill!
With a few more radio station stops along the way, Mike is now a news reporter on 770 KKOB.
