SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) A lawyer who died after being shot by a gunman in a Phoenix office was a former reporter with the Santa Fe New Mexican. The paper reported that Mark Hummels left the Santa Fe New Mexican in 2001 to attend law school at the University of Arizona. A publicist for his law firm said Friday that the 43-year-old Hummels died after being placed on life support. He was the second of three people hit by gunfire to die from in the attack.
Police say the gunman 70-year-old Arthur Douglas Harmon was found dead early Thursday in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound
Hummels covered local and state government for the newspaper in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
