(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) -- An armed man who fled from police was shot and killed by police Wednesday morning when attempting to return stolen items to the scene of a robbery the man had allegedly committed earlier.
The man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, ran from police after he was spotted with a woman and another man attempting to return a guitar and banjo that they had stolen earlier to the Music Go-Round store, according to police. A foot chase ensued and the suspect hid near the Sheridan Hotel and Chili’s Restaurant. He was confronted by police in the morning.
Police confirmed that he had a gun, but he was not pointing it at officers when he was shot.
The female accomplice was taken into custody, and the other male fled in a truck.
